Will a desert landscape really lower my water bill?
Yes. Grass is the thirstiest thing in most Tucson yards, so replacing it with granite, boulders and drought tolerant plants on drip irrigation cuts your summer water use sharply. Tucson Water also offers rebates for removing grass, which helps cover the cost of the change.
What is xeriscape and does it mean just rocks?
Xeriscape is landscaping built for a dry climate, and it is far more than a field of rock. A good Tucson design layers decomposed granite, boulders, native trees like palo verde and mesquite, agave and flowering shrubs so the yard has shade, color and texture while using very little water.
Can you design both my front and back yard?
Absolutely. We handle full property makeovers as well as single areas, whether you want a fresh front yard for curb appeal, a usable back yard, or the whole lot planned together so it all flows.
Will it still look good in the summer heat?
That is the point. We choose Sonoran natives and desert adapted plants that are built for Tucson sun, so your yard stays full and green through July and August instead of burning out. Clean bed lines and granite keep it sharp even between plants.
How do you deal with our hard caliche soil and monsoon rain?
Tucson caliche and clay do not drain well, so we grade the yard to move water where you want it and set granite over a proper base. We also plan planting beds and drip lines so heavy monsoon storms soak in instead of washing your landscape away.
